about dr. colombini
Dr. Colombini graduated in 1999 from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma,
Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. This gave her the platform to be accepted in the fall of 2000 to Bastyr University. Located just north of Seattle, Washington, Bastyr is an accredited institution internationally recognized as a pioneer in natural medicine and the largest university for natural health arts and sciences in the U.S.
Dr. Colombini graduated in 2005 with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. She then completed a residency at Peninsula Naturopathic Clinic in Gig Harbor, Washington and continued to practice there until recently joining Serenityspa in a shared vision to bring holistic health to the downtown Tacoma community.
Dr. Colombini believes in the power of empowerment. She teaches her patients about their bodies, removes the word guilt and replaces it with education and self-empowerment, and then develops a treatment plan specific to the patient’s needs and goals.
about naturopathic medicine
Naturopathic Medicine combines the wisdom of centuries-old non-toxic natural therapies with the modern diagnostic tools of a primary care physician. In the state of Washington, naturopathic physicians are recognized as primary care physicians. Dr. Colombini is able to order diagnostic lab tests, MRI, CT, X-Ray and to refer to specialists when necessary. Though naturopathic physicians prefer holistic therapies, they have prescriptive rights for most medications such as antibiotics and hormone therapies.
Naturopathic Medicine is guided by six different principles that focus on treating the whole person. Naturopathic physicians strive to find the cause of disease and to eliminate it by enhancing the bodies own mechanisms to heal. They also work at the same time to prevent disease from manifesting. Naturopathic physicians utilize therapies such as nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, lifestyle counseling, therapeutic exercise, general psychological counseling and physical medicine such as bone manipulation and hydrotherapy.
